Kaatrin Mozhi movie is a remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu. This is a story which revolves around a radio station, a bored housewife, and lots of fun. Kaatrin Mozhi’s trailer gives us a peek into the life of Vijayalakshmi, who charms everyone with her ‘Hello’ and gets them hooked onto her radio show. Played by Jyothika, the trailer shows the fun side of this quirky housewife. From winning a pressure cooker to getting a job as an RJ, the trailer pretty much covers all the essential bits from the original film.
In November last year, Vidya Balan featured in the fun yet emotional film ‘Tumhari Sulu’ gave the characters of housewives a new lease of life, where the film focused on her perspective and the trials and tribulations of a middle-class family who dream middle-class dreams but occasionally have a way to slip out of that world. Kaatrin Mozhi trailer which released recently has crossed 2 Million views in very less time.
The Tamil version, starring Jyothika in the titular role, is a carbon copy of the film barring a few differences. If Vidya Balan’s Sulochana had a sexy ‘hello’ to her greeting, Jyothika’s Vijayalakshmi has a more raspy one. Amidst all this, everything looks more colourful, a shade happier as opposed to sunny in the original. However, there’s a lot of hope here as the story in itself is a fun one and with the hype reaching its peak, the film might just live up to the original’s charm.
The original was directed by Suresh Triveni and also starred Neha Dhupia and Maneesh Kaul. This Tamil remake is directed by Radha Mohan and features actor Vidhaart and Lakshmi Manchu. And if Ayushman Khurrana had a cameo in the original as himself, in this one actor STR makes a cameo, with him ending the trailer with his usual sermonic dialogue.
