Sangeeta Kalia is a 2010 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Haryana cadre. She is a lady with iron like resolve. She started to dream about becoming an IPS officer while watching popular Hindi TV serial Udaan. Her father was already in Haryana Police. She is a part of Haryana Police the same year when her father retired.
Sangeeta is good at bringing upmost honesty and people centric policing. She was popularly termed as the lady Singham. However, she is also having some ego issues with Anil Vij, Haryana’s Health Minister.
Civil Services Code should always be given preference when there is an itching for ‘civil activism’. There is no point in shunning the doctrine of neutrality and anonymity. The minister was advising her to control the menace of liquor in the district.
IPS Sangeeta Kalia Controversy:
She is in news due to her controversy with Haryana’s Health Minister, Anil Vij. Her public spat with Anil Vij was in a very poor taste.
In July 2018, Sangeeta got transferred as SP of Panipat and sent to Bhondsi. She was not attending meeting chaired by Anil Vij.
The Haryana government has issued transfer and posting orders of eight police officers with immediate effect. These include that of the Superintendent of Police of Panipat, Sangeeta Kalia because she did not attend a grievance committee meeting chaired by Health Minister Anil Vij on June 30.
Three years ago Mr. Vij had then stormed out of a meeting of the District Grievances and Public Relations Committee . Because the police officer had refused to follow his order to leave the venue following heated exchanges between them. The video of their argument had gone viral on social media. The Minster insisted her to leave the place instead she questioned why? That shows her valor.
