Bigg Boss Telugu season 3 will go on air tonight. The latest season of the reality TV show will be hosted by Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna. The first season was hosted by Jr NTR and the second season saw Nani as the host. The show is a spin-off of Bigg Boss (Hindi version), which itself is the Indian edition of original Dutch franchise Big Brother.
Like Bigg Boss, Bigg Boss Telugu hosts a bunch of celebrities in a house overseen by a ‘Bigg Boss’. The celebrities do not have any access to phone, internet and TV. Every week, the contestants vote out one among them, and the last surviving contestant is declared the winner.
The show is all set to provide a daily dose of entertainment and will go on for 100 days. The original season lasted for 70 days while the second season went on for 112 days. Bigg Boss Telugu 3 will be broadcast on Star Maa, the Telugu entertainment channel of Star TV. But if you don’t have access to TV or are on the move, you can stream the channel on Star’s streaming service Hotstar.
Bigg Boss Telugu 3 Opening episode Update:
The actor has shot for the grand premiere on Friday (July 19) and the first teaser of Nagarjuna hosting the show has been released a short while ago. And the host makes a smashing entry saying, “Welcome to the world’s biggest reality show”.
However, there are a few interesting changes in the show and functionality this season.
Firstly, the host has got a new makeover this season. Nagarjuna looks dapper draped in a suit. Besides, he can also be sporting a tattoo of ‘Bigg Boss eye’ on his right hand. He has carries a toy named ‘Pandu’ which grabbed attention in the teasers.
There are no commoners in this season. The show has opened doors for commoners only in the previous season. The season 2 that was hosted by Nani featured two commoners after screening them for over two months. However, the makers apparently dropped the concept of commoners owing to factors like a new host (Nagarjuna) and lack of enough time for auditions.
Bigg Boss Telugu 3 is likely to feature over six TV celebs as contestants. Sreemukhi, ‘Teenmaar’ Savitri, Ravikrishna, Himaja Reddy, Rohini are already popular on TV. Besides, two popular Internet sensations are also expected this season.
Interestingly, speculations are rife that the makers have a new voting system in place for this season to overcome the shortcomings of the controversial voting system in the previous season.
The makers are leaving no stone unturned to curb any leak this season. They have apparently tightened security and surveillance at the Bigg Boss house.
Unlike the previous season, the channel airing the show has dropped the official press meet introducing Nagarjuna as the host in the wake of ongoing controversies around the show. A female journalist and actress have lodged cases against three co-ordinators of the show alleging them of sexual misconduct. A PIL has been filed in the Telangana High court demanding for daily censorship of the show.
Security at host Nagarjuna Akkineni’s residence in Hyderabad was beefed up in the wake of protests by student outfits demanding to stall the show.
Bigg Boss Telugu 3 Controversy:
Gayathri Gupta and TV journalist Swetha Reddy, who accused four representatives of the show of sexual harassment, camped outside Jantar Mantar on Friday, demanding justice. Calling for the show to put on hold until measures are taken to prevent sexual harassment, the duo have put forth a set of demands.
“Firstly, when they approach potential candidates, it must be done in an office monitored by CCTV cameras. Auditions must be conducted by a proper panel, including official employees of the channel. Also, a committee Against Sexual Harassment must be set up. Most of all, terms and conditions of the offer must be clear from day one,” says Gayathri, adding, “I will not rest until justice is done.” Both Swetha and Gayathri have also demanded compensation from the makers.
On Saturday, members of the OU JAC staged a protest outside actor Nagarjuna’s Jubilee Hills residence and called him out for staying mum on the issue, ignoring the plight of the women who have alleged that they faced sexual harassment. But Nag is yet to make a statement on the issue. A close aide of the actor shared that he was not willing to comment on the Bigg Boss controversy, saying, “Nag has clearly stated that any questions about this controversy should be directed to Star MAA. He is not willing to comment on this issue.”
As per latest reports, the entry and performances of the housemates is being shot at Annapurna 7 acres.
