Complete List of 2024 Emmy Nominations
Emmy Nominations 2024, The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will honor the best in American prime time television programming from June 1, 2023, until May 31, 2024, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
“Veep” star Tony Hale and “Abbott Elementary” star Sheryl Lee Ralph had the honor of announcing the nominees for the 76th Emmy Awards on Wednesday. The Emmy season is upon us once again, bringing excitement and anticipation for television’s biggest night.
The 76th Emmy Awards nominations were revealed just six months after the delayed 2023 ceremony, which was pushed back due to the simultaneous SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America strikes. These strikes brought Hollywood to a standstill, resulting in fewer entries across many categories this year. To qualify for the 2024 Emmys, shows had to be released between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024. The awards will take place on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on ABC.
Despite the challenges faced by the industry over the past year, Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego highlighted the abundance of remarkable programs, performances, and storytelling that emerged. “While this year has been marked by significant challenges for our industry and its workforce, there has been an abundance of remarkable programs, extraordinary performances and impactful storytelling,” Abrego said in a news release.
Live from the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph, both Emmy winners, announced some of the top nominees. Leading the pack with 25 nominations was FX’s “Shōgun,” a series set in 17th-century feudal Japan. Another standout, FX’s “The Bear,” which dominated the comedy categories at the January show, broke the Emmy record for a comedy series with 23 nominations.
This year’s nominations also saw historic firsts. Lily Gladstone and Kali Reis became the first Indigenous women to be nominated for acting Emmys. Additionally, Sofia Vergara made history as the first Latina nominated in the lead actress category for a limited series.
